Friends of the Farmstead

We are the non-profit side of a 12-acre children's farmstead with nearly 200 animals and plenty of living history fun for the whole family in the middle of suburban Kansas.

Hummingbird Hero
This morning, right as we were opening the gate, one of our wonderful staff members was able to save a hummingbird’s life. He got all tangled up and couldn’t fly. The little guy had lost most of his strength so our quick thinking staffer gave him a flower to get enough energy to fly back home. It took no time at all for him to get his fill of the flower and take off…and this was all before 9:30AM.
It should also be noted that she once did the Heimlich on a very small turtle to save its life. [talk about a natural ability with incredibly small animals]
We just wanted to share a story with a happy ending on this Sunday morning!
Do you know any animal heroes? People that go above and beyond for our animal friends? Tell us about them!
